Abstract

As a gripper shuttle nears the end of its travel, an iron insert in the shuttle passes over a coil in the slay the resulting signal causes the weft coming from the supply bobbin to be clamped, whereupon the leading end pulls out of the shuttle and is drawn into a suction tube. A light-emitting diode inside the mouth of the suction tube shines on a photocell, the beam being interrupted by the entering weft thread. If no thread enters during a timing pulse generated by the shuttle passing the coil in the slay, the loom is stopped.
