Abstract
1,257,665. Weft patterning in shuttleless looms. ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI. 13 May, 1969 [30 May, 1968], No. 24301/69. Heading D1E. A weft is selected by energising the relevant magnet 37 to attract an armature 34 pivoted on a feeder 19. Bodily movement of a driver 5 from position I to position III then advances the feeder to present its weft 22 to a gripper 58 (which may operate as in Specification 1,103,241). As the feeder advances, an arm 27 pivoted on it moves away from a stop 24 and is then under the influence of a spring 31; if the weft 22 is broken, the spring swings the arm to open a switch 67 and thereby stop the loom. If the weft is intact, the arm 27 keeps the weft taut until the moment of picking. When a nose 29 encounters a stop 23, which swings the arm anti-clockwise to pay out the loop of weft between guides 48, 49, the weft being clamped at this stage between guides 46, 48 by energisation of a magnet 53 controlled by a switch 42 operated by a roller 40 on the driver 5. For the greater part of the pick, the eyelet 28 at the end of the arm 27 lies between the guides 48, 49 and the driver 5 remains in position III at which the switch 42 is open; weft can then run freely from the bobbin 45 through the brake 54, 55 which is loaded merely by a light spring 57. As the feeder 19 retracts at the end of the pick, the clamping magnet 53 is again energised and the arm 27 again comes under the influence of the spring 31, whereby the weft that has been inserted into the shred is pulled taut. If the weft has broken at this stage, the arm 27 has another opportunity of operating the stop motion switch 67. When the feeders 19 are fully retracted, the clamping magnets 53 are deenergised so that all unselected wefts are free to be withdrawn from their bobbins by the take-up of the fabric.
