Abstract

988,415. Shuttleless looms. R. DEWAS . June 24, 1963 [June 26, 1962], No.25391/63. Heading D1E. In a shuttleless loom when a weft thread 15 selected by a control assembly 14 is engaged by the inserter 13 a housing 8 pivotally mounted on the sley 10 is actuated by a cam 2 so that hooks 17 thereon move down to catch the thread and guide it relative to the moving sley during the pick. On the completion of the pick the housing is returned to disengage the hooks 17 from the thread. A feeler member 18 is also provided on the housing 8 between the hooks 17 which is loaded by a spring to apply a slight adjustable tension to the weft thread. On breakage of the weft the feeler moves to close a stopping circuit to stop the loom, this circuit including a switch which is actuated by a cam to close only during the weft insertion period. A brake and signal lamps may also be actuated.
