Abstract

1348498 Weft feelers SCHNEIDER-GERSTER AG 8 Dec 1971 [10 Dec 1970 3 March 1971] 57101/71 Heading DIE A weft feeler mounted in a shuttle comprises a pivoted drop plate 12 which rests on the weft thread on the spool 2 until the thread is nearly exhausted, when it swings past the spool and activates an electrical switch 8. The switch may be a reed switch which is activated by a permanent magnet 13 in the drop plate. The drop plate may have an adjustable projection comprising a screw 14 which passes through one of a pair of grooves 4 in the spool 2. Weft stop motions. A weft stop motion mounted in the shuttle, Fig. 8 comprises a plate 21 pivoted at 24 which is normally maintained in a raised position by weft passing through a ceramic eyelet 26. Upon weft breakage the plate drops and a permanent magnet 25 in it activates a reed switch 22. In an alternative embodiment, (Figs. 7 and 9, riot shown) the plate is pivoted at its centre and swings up on weft breakage under the weight of and attraction of the magnet 25 for the reed switch 22.
