Abstract

1,240,462. Shuttleless looms. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON Ltd. 11 July, 1968, No. 49659/70. Divided out of 1,240,461. Heading D1E. In a shuttleless loom weft is drawn from a supply by a conical roller 36 and passes into a weft storage device 46 where the difference between the rate of feed by the roller 36 and the rate of use by the loom is measured and the rate of feed altered when necessary. A piston 44 in the storage device has a magnet 48 which can actuate reed switches 49, 50 depending on whether the rate of feed is too high or too low and these switches can energise an actuator 41 to move weft yarn guides 37, 38 axially of the roller 36 so that the rate of feed is altered by using a different effective diameter of the constantly driven roller 36.
