Abstract
1,144,211. Weft stop motions; shuttleless looms. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 6 May, 1966 [28 May, 1965], No. 20163/66. Heading DIE. In a shuttleless loom wherein a gripper shuttle is moved back after picking and the weft thread is simultaneously tensioned a weft feeler is disposed at the picking side of the shed to operate a stop motion upon weft failure. The feeler may be the movable anode 71 of an electron tube 68 operating in conjunction with a rotating magnet 39 and induction coil 41, the two signals being passed to an adder 37, connected to the stop motion 44 to 46, which operates when the signal from the adder varies because of variation in signal from the anode. The anode may be replaced by a feeler acting upon strain gauges whose signals are fed to the adder or by a feeler acting upon a capacitor.
