Abstract

1,172,440. Shuttleless looms; tucked-in selvedges. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 6 April, 1967 [28 April, 1966], No. 15899/67. Heading DIE. A method of forming a tucked-in selvedge comprises changing the shed on a just picked weft, tucking-in the cut weft end and picking the new weft and, concurrent with tucking-in the weft end, shedding at least one selvedge warp thread, prior to the general shed change, so as to hold both the tucked-in end and the newly picked waft. Normally a pair of selvedge threads are prematurely shed by healds, operated independently of the main shedding mechanism, by eccentrics adjustably mounted on a shaft.
