Abstract

942,737. Jet looms. W. SCHEFFEL. May 13,1960 [Dec. 5, 1959], No. 33666/62. Divided out of 16908/60. Heading D1E. In a loom in which weft S is propelled through the shed by a jet of air from a nozzle 9 and received in a suction nozzle 10, additional nozzles in pipes 2,3 direct air towards the flight path of the weft. The pipes 2, 3 are mounted on the slay so as to be carried clear of the warp at beat-up but to penetrate the upper and lower warp sheets when the slay is in its rear position where picking occurs. In a loom in which both nozzles 9, 10 may be used for pressure or suction to enable picking to be effected in either direction, alternate nozzles in the pipes 2, 3 face in opposite directions; air pressure is fed to one end or the other of the pipes, depending on the direction of the pick, so as to emerge from the nozzles pointing in that direction.
