Abstract

1350934 Jet looms; measuring weft MACHINEFABRIEK L TE STRAKE NV 19 April 1971 [3 March 1970] 22586/71 Heading D1E A jet loom weft measuring device wherein single lengths of weft are picked comprises two air nozzles for blowing weft into storage tubes, which may be suction operated, the weft being picked from the second tube whilst a further length is being blown into the first tube and the weft in the first tube being blown into the second tube whilst the first pick is beaten-up. A pneumatic supply and braking device 3 supplies weft to constantly rotating rolls 4a, 4b, the roll 4b being rotatable at a variable speed to allow for different weaving widths. The rolls 4a, 4b supply the weft to a first nozzle 5 which blows it into the first storage tube 7 whilst it is being clamped by a first clamp 8 and whilst a picking nozzle 13 picks a length of weft from a second storage tube 11. After picking shears 15 sever the weft and a clamp 14 operates to clamp the end of the weft, the first clamp 8 then opens and the weft is then blown by a second nozzle 9 from the first tube 7 into the second tube 11. The first clamp 8 then closes and the apparatus is again ready for picking the weft from the second tube 11 whilst it is blown into the first tube 7.
