Abstract

1,183,934. Looms. WEAVING RESEARCH & TEXTILE COMMISSION AGENTS Ltd. 20 March, 1967 [30 March,1966), No. 14100/66. Heading DIE. In looms of the type in which the weft yarn is supplied from stationary packages the weft is supplied to the inserters by way of a storage tube into which it is blown. In Figure 1 weft from bobbins 12 is blown continuously into a storage tube 18 by an air nozzle 34 and the tube 18 is vented by a flap-valve 38 to allow excess and to escape on build-up of weft. The weft then passes through a tube 24 to the inserters in the form of curved spears 2, 4 carried on pivoted arms 6, 8, passing through elbows 22 and pipes 24, 26 thereon. Nozzles 50 on the spears may also be provided to assist the passage of the weft yarn therethrough and may be operated intermittently by cams 48. The air pressure is adjustable: The spears may move in a straight path instead of curved and may comprise pivoted tubular links through which the weft yarn passes. The storage tube may be one of the tubular links of such an arrangement. The storage tube may be flexible and curved or it may be of varying and non-circular cross-section.
