Abstract

1,133,111. Looms; replenishing dummy shuttles. OERLIKON-BUHRLE HOLDING A.G. 3 Dec., 1965 [7 Dec., 1964], No. 51444/ 65. Heading D1E. A continuously moving weft is blown into one end of the hollow body of a shuttle for a loom of the travelling wave shedding type, is held after it emerges from the other end and is cut after a predetermined length has accumulated in the body, weft is delivered by rolls 43 to a feeding device comprising cooperating stationary and rotary heads 26, 25 respectively, mounted above a wheel 40 rotating with head 25 and turning shuttle 42 through 180‹ at the end of the shed. It blown down channel 20 into one of several channels 28, having a wide aperture at its upper end, in the head 25 and through tube 39 into a shuttle. The end of the weft projecting from the shuttle is clamped by spring arm 8 engaging shuttle flap 16, allowing weft to accumulate. The weft is cut 'between the ends of relatively moving channels 20, 28, the end blown into the shuttle and the moving weft now blown into the following shuttle. When the shuttle leaves the wheel flap 16 closes its end, and arm 8 is re-flexed mechanically or electromagnetically. The amount of thread delivered may be varied by adjusting the roll speed, or displacing the yarn axially of conical rolls.
