Abstract

1,197,901. Valves. COMPRESSION JOINTS Ltd. 22 March, 1968 [23 March, 1967], No. 13826/67. Heading F2V. A valve for central heating systems has a frusto-conical valve member 20 movable by a knob 40 relative to a complementarily shaped seating 19. The valve spindle 22 is in threaded engagement with the valve body and has a shoulder 30 which engages with an internal flange 25 of a nut 24 to limit the upward movement of the valve member to a balance position for the system. The nut 24 can be adjusted on the valve body due to its threaded connection therewith to a required position and is then locked in this position by a collar 37 which has a hexagonally shaped bore that engages with complementary surfaces on the nut 24 and the housing part 26. When the valve member is moved to its uppermost position the frustoconical surface 34 seats on a complementary surface 33 of the valve body and in this position the top 0-ring seal 29 is exposed above the body and may be replaced.
