Abstract

1,198,075. Valves. PARAGON PLASTICS Ltd. 1 Nov., 1967 [15 Nov., 1966], No. 51209/66. Heading F2V. A lift valve member 78 is connected to a sealing diaphragm 82 by snap fitting projection 96 on the diaphragm or the valve member, the projection allowing relative rotation of the valve member and the diaphragm. A similar fitting may be used to connect the diaphragm to the actuating spindle 90. Alternatively, the diaphragm may be integral with a threaded stem operated by a non-rising spindle. In each case excessive torques at the limits of valve opening movement are prevented from unscrewing the headwork by slipping of sleeve 86 or the diaphragm. The valve parts can be wholly of plastics, the diaphragm suitably being of polypropylene.
