Abstract

1,215,014. Valves. RANCO CONTROLS Ltd. 3 April, 1968 [12 April, 1967], No. 16904/67. Heading F2V. A fluid control valve for an automatic heater, comprises an inlet 13, a first outlet 14 to the heater, controlled by a main valve 11 of cylindrical form, with a metering groove 23 and a resilient closure surface 26, which is moved axially in a set 21 by a lever 25, and a second by-pass outlet 15 to the engine cooling water inlet, controlled by a valve 12, formed, e.g. from rubber, resiliently loaded to the closed position by a spring 35. When pressure builds up in the inlet chamber 16, the by-pass valve relieves it to the outlet 15. When there is insufficient pressure in the chamber 16, a stem 24a opens the valve 12 when the valve 11 is closed. The valve 11 can be a lift valve.
