119,566. Wyllie, J. Oct. 26, 1917. Limbs, artificial.- A foot and leg are connected by a cylindrical piece of rubber d which is secured to the re- "pective parts and constitutes an ankle joint. The rubber ankle is received in a taper socket c in the tubular leg casing and is retained by pins c, while the lower end thereof is clamped in a serrated cylindrical hole g formed in the two parts of a divided foot, which parts are secured together by bolts p, p<1>. A tendon comprising a chain h and rubber buffer i is employed to assist the ankle. The forward movement of the leg is limited by a a rubber buffer k. The toe piece is connected to the heel of the foot by a rubber block e and a strip n of balata belting. The gap between the foot and leg is surrounded by a leather band.
