Limbs, artificial. - A foot is secured by a gaiter fitted with an extension passing under the heel, a pneumatic cushion being arranged between the foot part and the leg member or between the foot and the stump. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the pneumatic cushion 5 is shaped so that, when inflated, it forms a connexion between the foot part 1 and the leg member 4. Vertical flexible ties 7 limit the longitudinal extension of the cushion and it is strengthened by a leather sleeve 11. Rings 12, 13 are fitted to the parts 1 and 4 to prevent fracture. The gaiter 14 is secured round the ankle by lacing. Cords 16 and 17 serve to adjust the angle of the foot. These cords may be adjustably attached to hooks 18 as shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 4 shows a modified arrangement in which the pneumatic cushion is interposed between the stump 19 and the foot part 1. The cushion may be permanently inflated or fitted with a valve 6. The leg member is formed with projections 22 to give a firm grip to the gaiter 21.
