Abstract

1,194,926. Burners. C. S. FLYNN. 12 Oct., 1967, No. 46523/67. Heading F4T. A burner assembly for producing high temperature high velocity combustion products comprises a chamber 76 which is supplied with a combustible air and gas mixture through an inlet 78 and which is closed by a coarse mesh screen 68, a fibrous refractory felt layer 70 and a fine mesh screen 74, the layer 70 having fine passages of micron size diameter and being free from pinhole size leaks so that the layer offers resistance to the gases which burn close to the surface of the layer after passing through, and the combustion gases are expelled through a restricted orifice 26.
