Abstract

1,158,600. Burners. ENTREPRISE GENERALE DE CHAUFFAGE INDUSTRIEL PILLARD FRERES & CIE, S.A. 16 Jan., 1968 [18 Jan., 1967], No. 2319/68. Heading F4T. In a burner for gaseous hydrocarbon fuels, such as natural gas containing a high proportion of methane, a main flow of fuel 1 from an outlet 2 is surrounded by a screen 3 consisting of combustion products obtained by burning a fraction of the fuel supply in an auxiliary burner having distributing fingers 5 supplied with fuel through an orifice 4 and primary air 6 rotated by vanes 7, the screen 3 separating the main fuel from the main combustion air 8 so that it is heated to a high temperature with consequent cracking of the hydrocarbons to produce particles of carbon which cause a luminous radiant flame when the final combustion takes place. In a modification the fingers 5 are replaced by a rose.
