Abstract

1,191,163. Cables. SCOTTISH CABLES Ltd. 12 Sept., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 41740/67. Heading H1A. To avoid longitudinal troughs and circumferential creases in the impregnated paper belt insulation of a multicore power cable, the belt insulation comprises creped paper lapped under tension around the cores, the paper having a greater elasticity than any outer lappings. The lappings may be graded so that their elasticity diminishes from a maximum at the innermost layers which are able to stretch 40-60% before break.
