Abstract
1,220,612. Cables. W. T. GLOVER & CO. Ltd. 2 April, 1969 [3 April, 1968], No. 16070/68. Heading H1A. A multi-core pre-impregnated paper insulated sector-shaped solid aluminium conductor cable comprises in the dielectric around at least one of the conductors, an inner part of a preimpregnated paper tape applied to the conduc - tor under tension so that the residual extensibility far exceeds the extensibility required to accommodate the increase in length caused by the laying up of the cores. The remaining part of the dielectric may be formed of normal preimpregnated paper tape having a lower residual extensibility. Alternatively the dielectric could be formed of alternate layers of the two, the more extensible tape being innermost. Examples are given of suitable pro-impregnated paper for use in the inner part of the dielectric.
