Abstract
1,186,465. Regulating fluid-flow. HONEYWELL Inc. Aug.19, 1968 [Aug.30, 1967], No.39540/68. Heading G3H. The differential pressures applied to control channels 35, 36 of amplifier 33 are varied by moving piston 13 along slotted cylinder 11 thereby varying the leakage through the slot and therefore the pressures in conduits 30, 31. Piston rod 16 is moved by a handle 15 carrying a pointer 41 which moves along scale 40 calibrated in differential pressures. In a modification Fig.2 (not shown) the piston rod carries two further pistons which, together with piston 13, define constant volume chambers (18, 19) so that the pumping action of piston 13 in the Fig.1 construction is counteracted. In further modifications (not shown) one chamber is dispensed with, and slot 12 can either be replaced by a series of apertures, or it can be of non-uniform shape.
