Abstract

1,221,667. Hydraulic accumulators. MESSERSCHMITT-BOLKOW-BLOHM G.m.b.H. May 20, 1968 [May 23, 1967], No.23991/68. Heading F1P. An hydraulic accumulator for producing a preliminary pressure in a closed hydraulic system comprises a variable volume bellows 7 having its interior connected to the system by a passage 24, 25, 27 and the end wall 5 thereof loaded by pressure acting on the face 40 of a piston 3 slidable in a cylinder 16 and connected by a piston rod 4 to the end wall 5. The accumulator provides a pressurized input to a pump in the system connected to the passage 25 in a housing 1. The output from the pump is used to actuate hydraulic devices and to charge a high-pressure accumulator 12 supplying pressure to the piston face 40 via passages 14, 15. Hydraulic fluid exhausted from the actuated devices is returned to the bellows through a socket 33 in the housing 1, cross-cuts in the end of the cylinder 16, and a central flow passage and communicating transverse ports 37 in the rod 4. The end wall 5 is guided by a cylindrical structure 11 fixed to the housing 1.
