Abstract

1,047,983. Hydraulic accumulators. POWER AUXILIARIES Ltd. Oct. 3, 1963 [Oct. 17, 1962], No. 39363/62. Heading F1P. In a gas-hydraulic accumulator wherein the chamber 1 Fig. 1 (not shown) is partitioned by a cup-shaped piston-like member 6 and a flexible metal bellows 10, sealingly secured at one end to the periphery 9 of the piston 6 and at the other end to an end wall 2 of the chamber 1, the piston 6 carries a valve 14 which becomes seated at 13 during the final discharge of fluid e.g. oil through a bore 4 in wall 2 thereby avoiding excessive oil pressure drop within the chamber 1 and consequent collapse of the bellows 10. Compressed air is admitted through a bore 5 in an end plate 3. In a modification the perhipery 29 Fig. 2 (not shown) is also secured to the air inlet plate by a metal bellows and during manufacture the annular space between the bellows and the chamber is filled with oil.
