Abstract
1402476 Delivering measured quantities of liquid ALFA-LAVAL AB 5 June 1973 [19 June 1972 (2)] 26847/73 Heading B8N A fluid apparatus, such as a liquid measuring apparatus for dispensing foodstuffs comprises a piston and cylinder arrangement in which during reciprocation of the piston a cavity provided in either the piston or the cylinder alternately communicates with the chambers on opposite sides of the piston in order to release gas bubbles. In Fig. 2, the cavity is formed by three circumferentially-spaced recesses 26 in the piston which communicate alternately with annular zones 20, 21 at the ends of the cylinder. In Fig. 4, the cavity is formed by an annular recess 41 in the cylinder and in Fig. 6, the cavity is formed by a two-part piston, the inner slidable part 43 having an annular recess 51. Change-over occurs at the ends of the stroke. The downward stroke may be limited by an adjustable rod 47. Dispensing may be achieved as disclosed in Specification 1402475 and Co-pending Application 27070/73.
