993,250. Measuring width of moving strip. THEODOR WUPPERMANN G.m.b.H. March 1, 1962 [March 1, 1961], No. 8027/62. Heading G1M. A device for measuring the width of continuously produced strip material 1, such as strip iron, which may move sideways comprises sensing heads 2, 2a operating plungers 4, 4a in fluid cylinders 3, 3a, respectively. A change in width of the strip causes displacement of fluid between the chambers 12-15 and into those of an indicator cylinder 7 divided by a plunger 11. The latter is biased by a weight 8 and operates a pointer 9 and recording member 10. Cylinder 3 is adjustable relative to cylinder 3a. The indicator may include optical or acoustic waving means.
