Abstract
1,233,475. Determining t. d. c. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. June 24, 1969 [June 25, 1968], No.31710/69. Heading G1M. [Also in Division F1] A device for determining t. d. c. in an i. c. engine comprises a tube 3, preferably of glass, arranged to be connected to the combustion chamber, and a displaceable piston 52 arranged to open or close a transverse bore 4 depending on its position in the tube. In use port 1 is placed in the sparking-plug hole while the device is fixed to the engine by magnet 11. As the piston is moved towards t. d. c. air from the engine cylinder is vented at 4 until t. d. c. is reached. Movement of the engine around t. d. c. then causes corresponding movements of piston 5 allowing t. d. c. to be located.
