746,801. Single stroke apparatus. ANDERSON, N. R. March 12, 1954 [April 2, 1953], No. 7189/54. Class 8(2). In a pneumatic power cylinder a plunger 31 slidable in the piston 14 has caps 45a, 45b which obstruct the inlet/outlet ports 19a, 19b at a given position of the stroke so that pressure builds up in front of the piston and acts as a buffer. Adjustable by-pass ports 20a, 20b are provided. Grease nipples 52a, 52b are provided whereby lubricant can be injected into the dead space formed when the nut 15 on boss 28 engages the end of the cylinder. The caps 45a, 45b are made self-aligning by being pivoted on the plunger 31 or by having flexible end faces. Spring loaded self aligning packings 47a, 47b are provided where the plunger 31 passes through the piston and these packings serve to restrain the plunger 31 from undesired movement.
