Abstract

1362409 Dashpots MARTONAIR Ltd 20 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 53498/71 Heading F2S A dashpot comprises a first piston 7 whose speed within a cylinder 5 is to be controlled, a second cylinder 6 forming a reservoir receiving fluid from the first cylinder during an inward stroke which displaces a piston 9 against a return spring 11, an adjustable valve (13, Fig. 2, not shown) between the cylinders to control the flow, and a by-pass path which is closed during the inward stroke. The by-pass is closed by a spring loaded one-way valve (15, Fig. 2) and the valve (13) is a tapered needle valve providing speeds of ¥ inch to 50 inches per minute for the piston 7. An oil-filling plug (16) and a bleed valve (17) are provided. The piston-rod 10 serves as a travel indicator.
