Direct air, gas, and steam pressure apparatus, automatic; floats; valves for pressure fluid, actuation of; valves for pressure fluid, arrangement of.-Apparatus for raising corrosive and other liquids comprises a chamber 14 from which the liquid is forced by compressed air &c. admitted by a slide valve 16 through pipes 42, 18 when a float 32 is raised by the liquid and moves a valve 28 to admit compressed air from a pipe 50 to one end of the cylinder 46 in which the valve 16 slides. When the float sinks, the valve 28 is moved to admit compressed air from the pipe 50 to the other end of the cylinder 46 to close the valve 16. While the vessel is filling, the displaced air passes out through ports 34, 36 controlled by the valve 28. The float carries an air chamber 70, which supports the float in the raised position until the liquid falls below the lower edge of the chamber. When the float falls, a valve 74 is opened and allows the air to escape from the chamber 70 through a pipe 30 and ports 72. The volume of liquid delivered may be measured by means of a counting-apparatus 82, actuated by the valve 28. In a modification, the partition 68 in the float is dispensed with.
