Abstract

Direct air-pressure apparatus, automatic; floats; valves for pressure fluid, actuation of; valves for liquids, arrangement of.-Apparatus for raising liquids comprises two chambers A, A<1> each provided with inlet and exhaust valves E, E<1>, J for compressed air, and inlet and outlet valves C, C<1>, D for the liquid. The air inlet valves are connected to levers H carrying weights I, I<1>, and the exhaust valves J are connected to levers K carrying floats L working in dash-pots V. The spindle Z on which the lever H is fulcrumed carries a latch A which holds the lever K in position to close the valve J while the valve E is open. When the chamber is empty the weight I closes the valve E and releases the lever K, so that the float L descends and opens the valve J. The valves E, E<1> are connected by a lever F, so that, as one valve opens, the other closes. The weight I may be heavier than the weight I<1> for starting purposes.
