Abstract
20,370. Buckley, W. Sept. 30. Direct air &c. pressure apparatus, automatic; valves for liquids, arrangement of; valves for pressure fluid, actuation of; valves for pressure fluid, arrangement of.-Fluid-pressure apparatus for raising liquids comprises a chamber 1 into which the liquid is admitted through a gate valve 5 and check valve 6 and dip-pipe 2, and from which it is ejected through the pipe 2, check valve 8, and gate valve 7. The pressure fluid is admitted by a valve 12 and exhausted through a valve 18, these valves being alternately closed by springs 13, 19 on their stems, and opened by a weighted lever 37 loosely pivoted on a stud 35 and provided with abutments 38, 39 adapted to be engaged by a lever 34 loosely pivoted on the stud 35. One end of the lever 34 lies between two stops 32, 33 on a rod 26, which is moved up and down by a float 29 slidably mounted between adjustable collars 30, 31 on the rod. When the float reaches the stop 30 the rod is raised and the stop 32 raises the lever 34 so as to throw the lever 37 over to the right and open the valve 12. When the float descends and reaches the stop 31, the rod 26 is drawn down and the stop 33 depresses the lever 34 and throws over the lever 37 to open the valve 18.
