A float valvef controls the admission of the liquid to the forcing-chamber a, and a float valve i the admission and exhaust o f t h e pressure fluid. On the chamber becoming full, the valve i rises and closes the exhaust outlet k of the e pressure fluid, which then enters the chamber a and forces out the liquid by the pipe e, the valve f at the same time closing the outlet from the supply tank. On the reduction of pressure in the chamber a owing to escape of pressure fluid by the pipe e, the valve i drops, diverting the pressure fluid to the exhaust k, and the chamber a fills again. The outlet k may be open as shown, or connected by a pipe to the pipe e. Slight modifications in the arrangements of the valves are described. In order to ensure a sufficient reduction of pressure in the chamber a to allow the valve i to drop, as just described, an auxiliary valve l is provided, Fig. 2, either in the chamber a or connected thereto by pipes This valve allows the earlier escape of air by the hole m and pipe n. The valve may be adjustably weighted by mercury or shot.
