Abstract

1,183,803. Jib cranes. BALDWIN-LIMAHAMILTON CORP. 2 Jan., 1969 [3 Jan., 1968], No. 291/69. Heading B8B. A cable drive assembly for a telescopic boom crane comprises stub shafts 31, 32 at the lower end of the boom 16 and pivotally mounting the same between vertical support plates 28, 29 extending from a base, a radial flange 44 being provided on the stub shaft 32 to mount a drive motor 26 for a cable drum 33 which is journalled in the lower end of the boom. The drum 33 is mounted in bearings 41 in the stub shafts 31, 32 and is driven by a shaft 46 splined at 47 to the drum and at 48 to the motor output shaft which is supported in a bearing 45 in the flange 44. Movement of the cable 22 relative to the boom 16 as the boom is rotated is therefore prevented.
