Abstract
1,146,267. Jib cranes. ATLAS-MAK MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 9 Feb., 1968 [11 Feb., 1967], No. 6472/68. Heading B8B. A hoisting gear for ships comprises a boom 1, Figs. 1 and 2, the foot of which is pivoted on a horizontal pin 2 at the base of a post 3 mounted in bearings 4, 5 for rotation about a vertical axis, a luffing linear piston drive 9, 10 pivoted to the boom and to the top of the post 3 at 11, and a pillar 6 providing a common support for the bearings. The pillar 6 is secured to a mast 8 and the boom is slewed by linear piston drives 15, 16 and 17, 18. The cylinders of the latter are pivoted at 24, 25 to brackets 26, 27 extending laterally from the pillar 6, and the pistonrods are pivotally connected to an arm 19 pivoted on a pin 20 and coupled to the pillar by a slot 22 in the arm engaging a pin 23 depending from the pillar. Alternatively the piston-rods may be directly pivoted to an arm on the post.
