Abstract
1,175,551. Heat-treating stainless steel. FRIED KRUPP HœTTENWERKE A.G. Jan.3, 1967 [Jan.7, 1966; April 5, 1966], No.310/67. Heading C7A. Stainless steel containing in percentage by weight:- C not more than 0.1 Cr 10-18 Mo not more than 2 Ni not more than 0.5 Mn, Si, P, S in usual amounts Fe balance is given a uniform carbide distribution by holding it at a temperature in the range 730‹ -770‹ C. for 2 to 10 hours during cooling after casting, after hot-working or after heating to 900‹-950‹ C., and then, with or without intermediate cooling, preferably to ambient temperature, heating it to a temperature in the range 800‹ - 950‹ C. and hot working. A cold working step, particularly a deep-drawing operation, may follow the hot working.
