Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce the ferrite-base stainless steel plate of good surface characteristics which do not cause ridging, etc. by hot rolling high-Cr ferrite-base stainless steel under the specific condition then subjecting the same to intermediate annealing and cold rolling. CONSTITUTION:The high-Cr ferrite-base stainless steel ingot containing Cr; 17- 40%, C<0.01%, N<0.04% or further, if necessary, Mo<4%, Ni<4% is hot- rolled. The temperature of the final pass of this continuous hot rolling is made 500- 750 deg.C and the draft of that time is made 20-80%. The treating conditions of the intermediate annealing following to this are temperatures of 800-900 deg.C and heating for 10-100 minutes. Thereafter, it is cooled at 10 deg.C/sec. or more in the mean cooling rate from the intermediate annealing temperature down to 300 deg.C. Finally, it is cold-rolled at a draft of 20% or more, after which it is subjected to ordinary recrystallization annealing. The superior surface characteristics free from the occurrence of ridging are provided.
