Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the Young's modulus in the direction perpendicular to rolling and produce a high Young's modulus steel material of superior workability in the rolling direction by performing hot rolling and heat treatment after the rolling under the specific conditions at the time of hot rolling of the steel material.
CONSTITUTION: The steel contg. >0.20% C, 0.01W1.0% Si, 0.3W2.0% Mn, 0.001W0.20% Al and >0.020% N or the steel material contg. further Ni, Cr and other additive elements at ≤4.5% is heated to its Ac1 transformation pointW 1250°C and is hot rolled. In this case, two phase region rolling of austenite and ferrite is performed in part during rolling so that the working draft at ≤Ar3 transformation point temp. is made at least 5% of the initial thickness of the steel material. After the cooling down to 300°C upon finishing of rolling is performed at a rate of cooling of ≤15°C/sec, the material is annealed at ≤700°C, or after cooling, it is formed at room temp. or ≤600°C by taking the direction perpendicular to rolling at a temperature of ≤Ar3 transformation point in the direction where the member is subjected to forming, after which it is annealed.
