Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce forged and hardened parts formed of bainite structure at specific ratios without tempering treatment by heating and forging a steel contg. specific ratios of C, Si, Mn, Al, N at specific temps., then quickly cooling the same immediately.
CONSTITUTION: The steel consisting of 0.05W0.25% C, 0.1W1.0% Si, 0.5W2.0% Mn, 0.05W0.1% Al, 0.005W0.03% N, and the balance substantially F, or further contg. one or more kinds of ≤3.0% Ni, ≤2.0% Cr, ≤1.0 Mo, ≤0.5% Ti, ≤0.5% Nb, ≤0.5 V, ≤0.005% B is prepd. Such steel is heated at 900W1,300°C, and is forged at 600W1,300°C, immediately after which it is quickly cooled with ordinary temp. or heated water, oil or water soluble quenching medium. Thereby, the forged and hardened parts formed with bainite structure at ≥50% ratios are obtained.
