Abstract

1,061,511. Improving physical properties. INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd. Jan. 4, 1965 [Jan. 9, 1964], No. 289/65. Heading B3V. [Also in Division C7] An austenitic stainless steel containing in percentage by weight is hot worked at 1065-1260‹ C. and is then without intermediate annealing cold worked to produce at least 15% and preferably 40-60% reduction, followed by annealing in the range 925-1095‹ C. for a time sufficient to bring about recrystallization without solution of the fine carbide particles. Intermediate anneals may be given during cold working provided that the range 1040-1205‹ C. is avoided.
