Abstract

A drive and chain tensioning arrangement for a plough or conveyer chain has a main drive and associated auxiliary drive including a "standstill" motor which drives the chain at creeping speed only when the main drive is shut-off. The main drive housing has an output shaft 11 operatively connected to a sprocket wheel (not shown) and an auxiliary shaft 12. The driving chain is advanced at creeping speed by a standstill motor (17), Fig. 2 (not shown), e.g. an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic motor, which drives a bevel wheel 18 mounted on an axially movable shaft 19 driving the shaft 12 through gear-wheels 23, 24. When shaft 19 is moved by fork 26 the gear-wheels 23, 24 are disengaged. A limit switch (27) controlling the main motor is brought to the "make" position when a spring-loaded push-rod 271 is inwardly displaced away from a stop 28 by the screwing in of a screw 30 carried by an extension 29 of the fork-operating handle 25. Thus the main motor can only be switched on when the handle 25 has been moved into the Fig. 3 position in which gear-wheels 23, 24 are disengaged.
