Abstract

970,664. Screw conveyers. AUTOPACK Ltd. March 15, 1963 [March 20, 1962], No. 10585/62. Heading B8A. Discharge screw 3 of hopper 1 is driven from motor 14 at two speeds. Firstly, at a greater speed via pulley 17, pulley 20, clutch 8, shaft 7 and shaft 4. Secondly and subsequently at a smaller speed via gear 15, gear 19, clutch 9, shaft 7 and shaft 4. The change-over from the faster speed to the slower speed is effected through timer 40. Timer 40, Fig. 2.-The drive from shaft 7 proceeds to shaft 41 via chain 28, shaft 39, gear 43 and clutch 46, so that cams 49 and 50 are driven. These operate the appropriate switches at the appropriate time to switch on screw 3 to its first speed and to change to its second speed. At the same time shaft 7 drives wheel 53 which tightens spring 54. Spring 54 serves to bring the timer back to the original datum time as defined by pin 56a which engages lug 55 on disc 53. The timer is therefore automatically reset for the next operation. The position of the datum line as defined by pin 56a may be varied by hand via shaft 59 and gear 57.
