1,156,502. Rolling. DAVY & UNITED ENG. CO. Ltd. 5 Oct., 1966 [11 Oct., 1965], No. 43001/65. Heading B3M. A combination mill suitable for rolling beams or structural sections includes check plates 18 extending between the mill housings 12 and 13 on either side of a roll 17. The plates support the chocks of roll 17 and also the chocks of vertical rolls 17A, and are movable upwardly from the position shown when section rolling is to be performed. Projections 18A, extending between the housings, serve the same purpose below the pass line. The chocks of the rolls 16 and 17 are set inwardly of the housings and are backed by beams 15. The check plates can be wedged in position and are movable by piston cylinder assemblies 21 or by a roll balancing mechanism.
