Abstract

1,147,743. Cartons. MEAD CORP. 7 April, 1966 [1 Nov., 1965], No. 15792/66. Heading B8P. A collapsible article carrier which can be assembled from a single blank, Fig. 2 (not shown), has a bottom wall 47, Fig. 1, with a hingedly mounted keel 49 along its medial longitudinal fold line (41), said keel 49 being engaged, by means of locking notches, to transverse partitioning tabs 50, 51 which are cut from the bottom wall 47; side walls 1, 20 foldably joined to end wall panels 4 and 22; a handle 13 possessing handle holes as shown and formed from telescoping double-thickness handle panels joined to riser panels 10 and 25; and partition straps 14, 15, (31), (34) which together with the partitioning tabs 51, 50 divide the carrier into compartments. As shown a keel tab 65 reinforces the hinged connection between the keel 49 and bottom wall 47. As described, the carrier is assembled in three stages with three gluing operations.
