Abstract

1,041,328. Containers. A. J. FESTA. April 5, 1965 [May 20, 1964], No. 14301/65. Heading B8P. One or more longitudinal rows of cellular compartments are cut out in the top panel 16 (Fig. 2) of a carton, formed from a blank (Fig. 1, not shown) comprising serially a side wall panel 12, a bottom panel 13, a second side wall panel 14, a top panel 16, and a panel 17 designed to be glued to the side wall 12 when the carton is erected, the panels being disposed longitudinally with respect to each other with adjacent panels connected through lateral fold lines. End walls are formed from transverse extensions 26, 27, 31, 32 on the top and bottom panels 13, 16. The compartments are defined by two generally longitudinal cuts 36, 37 and a transverse cut 38. In erection folds at 48, 49 produce two cushioning elements 45, 46 and folds at 40, 39 produce two connected panels 42, 43, the former being glued to the bottom panel 13 and the latter providing a vertical dividing panel. In the embodiment shown, additional side wall panels 11, 15 which are glued down to their corresponding main side wall panels 12, 14, form upstanding side walls to the carton.
