1406785 Carrier cartons MEAD CORP 28 March 1973 [17 April 1972] 15011/73 Heading B8P An article carrier erected from a single blank includes a multiply handle formed from panels 30, 33, 34, 35, side walls 1, 61 end walls, each of which comprises two end wall panels 4, 60 and 6, 64, and two pairs of transverse partition strips 36, 44 and 71, 79 and longitudinal partition strips 39, 47 and 74, 82 which together define pairs of transversely aligned cells on each side of the handle. Transverse partition panels 52, 87 extend between and are secured by anchoring flaps 54, 56, 89, 91 to respective transverse partition strips 36, 44, 71, 79. To erect the blank, the anchoring flaps 56, 91 are glued to transverse partition strips 44, 79 by folding (Fig. 3, not shown) about lines 57 and 92. The end wall panels 4, 60 are then folded about lines 5 and 62 on to the side wall panels 1, 61, and web structures 8, 94 are folded about lines 10, 103, panels 9 and 102 of these structures then being gluded to a glue flap 3 and a bottom wall panel 67 respectively. Simultaneously with these last mentioned folding operations, the handle panels 30, 33 are folded about fold lines 17, 59 and glued to handle panels 34, 35; the associated transverse and longitudinal partition strips 36, 39 and 71, 74 being folded upon one another (Fig. 4, not shown) . Riser panels 19, 65 and web structure panels 26, 110 are next folded about lines 20, 66, 25, 109 and glued to handle panels 30, 33 and adjacent web structure panels 24, 108 respectively (Fig. 5, not shown). The thus folded blank is then folded about lines 31 and 36a and the overlying handle panels 30, 33 and the overlying riser panels 16, 58 and 19, 65 are glued together (Fig. 6, not shown). The carton, in a collapsed condition, is completed by folding and glueing the bottom wall panel 67 to the glue flap 3.
