Abstract
1277433 Cartons with double-layered walls JOHN WADDINGTON Ltd 29 Dec 1969 [23 Jan 1969 6 Aug 1969] 3832/69 and 39275/69 Heading B8P A carton having at least one double-layered wall is formed from a single blank. In the embodiment shown, a blank for an Easter egg carton comprises outer wall panels 10, 12, 14 and 16, front and rear flaps 28, 30 hinged to panels 12, 16 and glued together to form the inner walls, and front and rear flaps 24, 26 hinged to panels 10, 14. The flaps 30 each have two fold lines 42, 44 and an oval out-out to locate the Easter egg. The fold lines connecting the flaps 28 to the panels 12, 16 are of shallow V-form and the edges of the panels 10, 12, 14, 16 diverge slightly, so that the front side edges of the carton bulge slightly. As modifications, the flaps 30 may each be provided with only one fold line and the shapes of the fold lines connecting the flaps 28 to the panels 12, 16 and the decorative fold lines and cut-outs on the flaps 28 may be different. Further embodiments of the invention show cartons in which all four walls are double-layered, the inner layers of which may have oval or circular article-receiving cutouts.
