Abstract

1,143,199. Injection moulding footwear. DESMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 16 May, 1966 [17 May, 1965], No. 21613/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] A shoe insole 10 having a covering 11 is made by an injection moulding process in which the covering is gripped between opposed mould parts 12, 13 and forced into contact with a shaping surface in one mould part by the injected material. The covering 11 is made of stretchable material, e.g. P.V.C., and the injected material is preferably foam material, e.g. P.V.C. The parts 11a of the covering gripped between the mould parts are subsequently adhered to the insole. In Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) the mould recess 17 is formed in the lower mould part 18 and the covering 11 is held in place by pins 20. The process may be a two-stage one, the material being allowed to expand in the second stage by lowering a displaceable plunger portion (21) (Figs. 7-9, not shown).
