Abstract
1,021,731. Moulding footwear. PIRELLI S.p.A. Jan. 2, 1963 [March 6, 1962], No. 296/63. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] In a method of injection moulding footwear a pre-moulded sole of a non-skid abrasion resistant material, e.g. a rubber base mix, is placed in the mould so that a hole 3 in the shank coincides with the injection hole. The male member having a lining 6 is placed on the sole and rests on projections 5 which may be of dovetail shape. The injected upper forming material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, fills the space between the projections 5 and also a peripheral dovetailed groove 4 so forming a structural connection between the sole and the upper as well as a bonding connection.
