Abstract

1,147,748. Injection moulding footwear. DESMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 5 July, 1967 [12 Aug., 1966], No. 30909/67. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A3] A cellular rubber sole is moulded on to an upper 14 by injecting a rubber mixture and an inflating agent into a cavity 16 and then, after a time interval, lowering a bottom plunger 11 from position a to position b to allow the mixture to expand. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the plunger is initially in position (c) during injection, is then raised to position (d) to press the mixture against the upper and then after a specific time is lowered to position (e) for expansion purposes. Positions (d) and (e) are both above the injection inlet (12) so as to eliminate the deadhead in the inlet. During reduction of the mould cavity a low pressure is initially applied, followed by a higher pressure.
