Abstract

1,126,535. Boots &c. DESMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 3 May, 1966 [5 May, 1965], No. 19353/66. Heading A3B. [Also in Division B5] A shoe has a sole 13 of elastic foam material injection moulded directly into the shoe bottom and an edge strip 14 of firm, homogenous elastic material injection moulded on to the sole. The sole 13 may be a polyurethane foam and may extend over the edge strip 14 at 15. The sole may project beyond the upper to simulate a welt or may be flush with the upper and may include a felt bottom filler. The sole is produced in a mould having split side walls 17, and a movable bottom plunger 18 which is surrounded by a movable rim 20. With the rim 20 in the raised position the sole material is injected through ducts 22, 23 and when the sole has solidified the rim 20 is lowered and the edge material is injected through ducts (riot shown) in the side walls 17. During the injection of the sole material 13 the bottom plunger 18 may be lowered to aid the expansion of the sole material 13, and after the sole has solidified may be further lowered so that the material of the edge 14 extends over the bottom of the sole. If the edge strip 14 extends around the heel the rim 20 is divided into three parts, one part surrounding the sole, another the heel and the third part covers the breast face of the heel.
